Introduction Who is Mr. Constantopoulos? • I have been teaching at Teston Village since the school opened in 2007. • I have had to pleasure to teach siblings of students in my current class. • I’m also extremely fortunate and thankful for 7 returning students in my 2010-2011 class! • I don’t give very much homework but I assure you that your child is constantly working in class! • I love sports, math, and science and I often share many things I have learned and experienced with my students!

Student Expectations: Setting your child up for success Expectations at School: • Respect yourself, your peers, and your school. • Participate in class and group discussions. • Ask questions if you don’t understand something. Questions help you understand. Stay in at recess if you need extra help. • Be prepared for learning: bring pencils, sharpener, eraser, ruler, pencil crayons • Bring your agenda to class daily. Make sure all homework is recorded in agenda • Complete your homework and assignments on time and with care. • Keep desk clean and organized. • Bring proper gym attire. • Return all tests/quizzes corrected and signed by a parent/guardian. • Be at school on time.

Student Expectations: Setting your child up for success Expectations at Home: • Bring home all your homework and make sure to return it to school. • Complete homework with care. • Homework should take approximately 40 minutes each night. Reading is also homework. • Have parents sign agenda each night to verify homework was completed

  7. Curriculum at a Glance Math: • Math: • Place value: Numbers to 1000 (grade 3). Numbers to 10000 (grade 4) • Data management: Graphing • Linear Measurement • Adding & Subtracting • Time & Temperature • 2D shapes & 3D shapes (includes patterning) • Multiplication and Division • Volume and capacity • Fractions (grade 3 & 4) and decimals (grade 4) • Probability • Transformational Geometry • Algebra

Grade 3 vs. Grade 4 • Each student will receive an equal amount of my time regardless of their reading level, math level, or grade. • Each student will treated equally and given work that they are capable of completing. • Grade 3s will be graded and reported on grade 3 expectations. Grade 4s will be graded and reported on grade 4 expectations.

  9. New Report Cards System This Year • Instead of 3 report cards this year, we now have 2, one in January, and the other in June. • In the beginning of November, there will be a Progress Report.
