Purpose of This Presentation • Review steps to being a successful student • Develop understanding of Liberal Arts policies concerning a temporary stay in the College of Liberal Arts • Become familiar with resources to assist you with changing to intended college
Step 1: Know Yourself • What are your Interests? • What are your Abilities? • What are your Skills? • What are your Values? • What are your Goals?
Step 2: Be Proactive • Explore all of your options and the requirements of your intended school • Check your Purdue email daily • Monitor myPurdue accounts • Be aware of Purdue policies and procedures • Consult with your Liberal Arts Advisor with any questions or concerns you have about your academic career
Step 3: Plan Ahead • Visualize your professional future • Set goals and timelines
Step 4: Know Your Destination Each college has advisors who can provide information for your interests outside Liberal Arts (List of Schools and Advisors) Colleges have minimum hours, courses, and/or grades that must be established before you CODO. Become familiar with these requirements You must check with intended college to see what requirements are needed to CODO to that program Attend CODO meeting in intended college. Consult with an advisor in college of new major
Step 5: Keep Doors Open Be aware of sequenced courses in your intended program outside of Liberal Arts Maintain the best grades possible while you work towards your intended college
Step 6: Know Your Resources Develop a working relationship with your Liberal Arts Academic Advisor Take advantage of tutoring and supplemental instruction Learn about the various General Studies courses at Purdue

Temporary CODO to Liberal Arts • Students working towards a CODO to another college can remain no more than one calendar year within the College of Liberal Arts. • Students must sign CODO contract • If CODO requirements for intended college are not met by the one calendar year deadline, student must either CODO to Exploratory Studies Program (if eligible) or declare a major within the College of Liberal Arts.
Replacing Grades • You may repeat courses to replace the previous grade and credit in your GPA (course must be repeated at a Purdue campus). • The most recent grade in a course is used in the calculation of the GPA. • This holds true even if grade is lower the most recent time you take the course.
Registration Each Semester • Contact will be made via Purdue Email Account • While a student in the College of Liberal Arts, registration each semester will be done by meeting with your Liberal Arts Advisor: Schedule an appointment at BRNG 1114 • Your Registration PIN changes each semester. This PIN can be retrieved via myPurdue after you have used it the first time. • Know your “Time Ticket” in myPurdue: • Academic Tab • Registration Tools • Registration Status
CLA Advising Office Consult with your Liberal Arts Advisor with any questions you have while working towards your destination college and for registration each semester Your Liberal Arts Advisor will also be able to assist you in additional resources to aid your transition to your intended college
CODO Documents You should have two copies of your Change of Curricula (CODO) form. One for CLA and one is returned to the Registrar in Hovde Hall room 45 CODO papers must be signed by yourself and your current School/Advisor prior to being signed into the College of Liberal Arts You should have your intended major(s) plan of study with completed courses marked with a grade After completing the following quiz, bring above documents to the CLA Advising Office in BNRG 1114 to be signed into the College of Liberal Arts
