JCOMM Concept and Objectives • An intergovernmental body of technical experts • Combines the strengths and expertise of the meteorological and oceanographic communities • Jointly sponsored by WMO and IOC • Operates at global, regional and national levels • User oriented • Integrated marine observing, data management and services system • Extensive outreach programme • Primary implementation mechanism for global GOOS
