Dealing with Psychological Aspect • put speaking situation into perspective • it’s only about 5 minutes, won’t make or break you… • your favorite song is probably longer than your speech • in life, no one will really care what grade you got on this speech • examine/deal with fears of audience, message and self • if you haven’t researched enough, do more research, make it clearer, cut it down… • change mental attitude • Don’t look at speech giving as a chore – it’s an OPPORTUNITY(You get to teach us about something - a captive audience. How cool is that?)
Dealing with Physical Aspect • release excess energy • exercise, stretch, sing some favorite music… • maintain everyday diet • don’t overdue caffeine, avoid foods that upset your system, eat if you normally eat…
