GEARING DCS FOR REHABILITATION • Project launched by the Minister and Commissioner in May 2002 • Focused on strategic repositioning w.r.t: • Overall policy review • Redefinition of strategy, structure and resources (finance prioritisation and personnel) • NMB developed a framework for Service Delivery in September 2002 • Dept aligned Gearing Project to Resolution 7/ 2002

PUBLIC SERVICE REQUIREMENTS PROCESS REQUIREMENTS • All departments produce and submit Plans: • Departmental Strategic Plans • Align Structure to the Strategy • Provide Human Resource Plan • Develop a Policy for and Match & Place Personnel into established posts • Redeployment and Training (excess staff)

  8. DCS PERFORMANCE • Draft Updated Strategic Plan • Provided framework structure for department (detailing micro elements of structure and competencies) • Started collection of personal profiles • Began communication with staff and consultation with unions
