When the blood travel through the tissues, it picks up with it some thing, what is it ? Waste produced by the body’s cells What is Excretion? Is the process of removing waste products from the body. Which systems in the body have a role in excretion? • Integumentary system: releases waste products & water when you sweat. • Respiratory system: releases carbon dioxide & water when you exhale. • Urinary system: contains the organs that remove waste products from your blood.
Cleaning the blood • What will be made during the chemical activities of the body? Waste product will be made such as carbon dioxide and ammonia. How to get rid of these waste product To be healthy? The urinary system will remove these waste products from the blood.
The kidneys as filters: • The kidneys are a pair of organs that constantly clean the blood. Your kidney filter about 2000 L of blood each day. But there is only 5.6 L of blood holed in your body!! So, your blood cycles through your kidneys about 350 times/day.
Which part of kidney is responsible to remove wastes from the blood? Nephrons Inside each kidney, there are more than 1 million nephrons. Nephrons: are microscopic filters in the kidney that removes wastes from the blood. Nephrons are removing many harmful substances, the most important one is …….urea. Urea: contains nitrogen that is formed when cells use protein for energy.
