  5. Our Situation • Our families need to know about the disease, it’s effects, and constantly changing treatment in order to help their relatives. • If our family member becomes overwhelmed, they may become sick also, and their help will be ineffective.

  11. We Are making Progress • This past year NAMI has completed the HUD apartment project, “Westover Cove””. The common areas and office have been furnished and decorated along with all of the 14 units being filled with people with mental illness. We also have a waiting list for the apartments that become empty. The apartments has a full time manager on site for the support of the residents. • We also have a large passenger van on property for the residents’ use for doctor visits, shopping, and on an as needed basis.

  12. How We Get Our Money • NAMI operates mostly on grants and private donations • NAMI has only one major fundraiser a year to raise funds for our programs. • Membership Dues are $30 annually, of which $10 goes to NAMI (national organization), $10 goes to NAMI Texas (state organization), with $10 being retained at the local level.
