  4. Enhanced Recovery • Morning of surgery admission • Planned admission to ICU/HDU-Joint care • Enhanced recovery • Pain relief –TAP (rarely epidural) • Pain nurse review • Early mobilisation – physio therapy • Early feeding – antiemetic • Early NG tube removal

  5. Enhanced Recovery • Avoid codeine/opiates • Hyoscine patches (crampy pain) • Early catheter removal • Carbohydrate loading pre-op • Limited fast • Cox 2 and Paracetamol • Fluid optimization (on return to ward)

  6. Patient information leaflet

  7. Discharge Summary • Hand written to GP on discharge • Currently developing Filemaker database for electronic discharge
