    2. Paintings Through the Ages People have been painting for millions of years. The Australian Aborigines painted on cave walls. Ancient cave paintings have also been found in France, Spain, Egypt and Africa.

    3. Famous Artists This painting is by Van Gogh. He lived in Holland. He was born about 150 years ago. This is a painting of his bedroom.( A painting of an interior.) Whats on the table?

    4. Italian Painters Italy during the Renaissance was the home of many famous painters. Renaissance means born again. The Renaissance was from the 12th century to the 14th century.

    5. Types of Paintings This painting is a landscape. In a landscape painting the artist paints trees, sky, mountains, rivers, animals. Australias early painters liked to paint outdoors.

    6. All Cultures All cultures express themselves through artistic media. Look at the beautiful Hmong tapestry at Fitzroy Learning Network.

    7. Artists in Your Country Can you think of an artist in your first country? The artist could perhaps be an embroiderer, a painter or work with wood. Perhaps everyone in your class could bring an item to class to show and discuss. How about an excursion to The Victorian Tapestry Workshop or an art galley?
