More information (At least 4 more facts) • In 1906 he immigrated to Ottoman-controlled Palestine and became an agricultural worker, putting into practice the philosophy that was to inspire Zionists over the next four decades. • He was Israel’s first prime-minister and defense minister. • His dream was that there will be many Jewish settlements in the Negev. • When he left politics he lived in "Kibutz Sde Boker" in the Negev. • He first worked as an agricultural laborer in the orange groves, and later as a journalist. • Ben Gurion was expelled from Palestine in 1915 because of his nationalist and socialist activities. • Ben Gurion finally retired from politics, aged 84, in 1970.
