Goals for the film clip instruction • Ss will enhance language skills from authentic materials • Ss will develop target cultural awareness • Ss will compare self culture and the target culture for better cross cultural communication
Objectives of the film clip instruction • Ss will be able to analyze the dialogue in the clip. • Ss will be able to analyze the target culture embedded in the dialogue. • Ss will be able to compare cultural differences from the dialogue.

Procedures • Listening activity: Play the film clip without showing the images • T invites the Ss to identify how many people are making conversation, who they are, what happen • Play the film clip again. This time the images are shown. • Whole class discussion about the son, the parents, the argument, the causes
5. T shows a written summary to offer a buildup for the climax 6. Worksheet A for Ss to fill in the responses from the son 7. Play the film clip again and pass the script 8. Discourse analysis (group activity) Worksheet B: Using the script to identify the parents’ utterances as criticism, interrogation, assertion of authority, etc, and the son’s utterance as defiance, deception, etc.
