  3. Site Supervisor • Laura Cadieux, RN • Director of Intermediate Care at St John Hospital and Medical Center • East Region Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation Nursing

Overview: • As of July 1st, 2013, the Rehabilitation Department which includes both acute care services and Inpatient Rehabilitation units at St John Hospital and Medical Center and St John Macomb-Oakland Hospital will be transforming leadership models. • Assessment of the project started in April 2013 when the continuum of care team shared their strategic goal of regionalization of Rehab. Services with the ultimate goal being systemization of Rehab. Services.

  5. Objectives: • Decrease the variation of practice at St.John Hospital and Medical Center and St John Macomb-Oakland or otherwise known as the East Region. • Assessment of various resource alignments • Systemization of policies and procedures specific to Rehab Services. This will include Providence and Providence Park Hospitals.

  6. Current Status: • This practicum started in April 2013 • Hours accumulated: • April 4th, 2013 1 hour meeting • May 20th, 2013 1 hour meeting • May 22nd, 2013 1 hour meeting

  7. Lessons Learned: • Using the Six Sigma Lean Process assessment will be done looking at the current state and the future state • Organizational Culture will have to be assessed • Awareness of the Strategic Plan for Rehab Services will be necessary • Knowledge of the current external environment that will affect the strategic plan

  8. Next Steps: • Meet with my site supervisor this week • Outline the goals of the practicum • Arrange meetings with Rehab Service Leadership • Review Rehab Nursing Policies and procedures with Clinical Nurse Managers of Rehab Units • Meet with Rehab Services Manager for input
