Overview of Professional development of trainers in Portugal • However, training and professional development are not incompatibles; • Trainers decide how to promote their own professional development (it may obviously include training). ECER, Ghent 19-21,September,2007
Pathways to be a trainer • Have taken a 90 hrs “Training of Trainers Course” (accredited by IEFP) OR • Have academic qualification as a trainer/teacher CAP (5 years of validity) ECER, Ghent 19-21,September,2007
Excepcional Regimen Application Professionals who don’t have the CAP but have special professional qualification which is not available in the training market may, exceptionally, be authorized by IEFP to serve as a trainer. ECER, Ghent 19-21,September,2007
Professional development(in formal way) Trainer is obliged to renew its CAP: • 60 hours of pedagogical training or a significant pedagogical experience considered relevant by the certifier entity. AND • 300 hours of training experience ECER, Ghent 19-21,September,2007
