Sessions Objective The aims of this concurrent session are: • To give a rationale for the project and identify key personnel involved in the innovation • To give an overview of the project • To discuss the development of the resource-based learning package • To present main discussion and conclusions University of Glamorgan
Project Objectives • To design, implement and evaluate collaborative curricula activities for pre-registration students in Wales and Finland. • To critically examine the effectiveness of resource-based learning on the internet as a medium to foster student-focused learning and support. • To further promote academic & cultural exchange for lecturers and students between the School of Care Sciences, University of Glamorgan & School of Social & Health Profession, Pohjois-Savo Polytechnic. University of Glamorgan
Results of Pilot Study • Students were unable to use the technology • Students are assignment driven • Lack confidence in their own knowledge to initiate dialogue on a discussion forum • Lack confidence to participate in a videoconference session with Finnish peers University of Glamorgan
Timescale • May 1999 • Introduce the resource-based learning package to the first cohort of students • September 1999 • Evaluate the responses from the cohort and fine-tune the resource-based learning package • November 1999 • Introduce the resource-based learning package to the second cohort of students • March 2000 • Evaluate the response from the cohort • May 2000 • Write up project and explore future developments University of Glamorgan
