Graphing Ordered Pairs I can solve problems by graphing ordered pairs using absolute value to calculate distances.
Quadrant II Quadrant I Coordinate Plane • A grid Used to locate points +, + -, + +, - -, - Quadrant III Quadrant IV
Ordered Pair Indicates a point on a coordinate plane (4, 2) (X, Y) X comes before y just like it does in the alphabet.
Graphing an Ordered Pair Start at the lobby (0,0) (The point of Origin) • Walk to the elevator go either to: • the right (positive +) • or to the left (negative -) • Take the elevator: • up (positive +) • or down (negative -)
Two Dimensional Object • A shape that only has two dimensions (such as width and height) and no thickness. • Its flat (doesn’t pop out at you) • Also Known as: 2D object
Square • A 4-sided flat shape with straight sides where: • All sides have equal length • And every interior (inside) angle is a right angle (90 °)
Rectangle • A 4-sided flat shape with straight sides where all interior angles are right angles (90°). • Also opposite sides are parallel and of equal length.
Equilateral Triangle • A triangle with all three sides of equal length. • All the angles are 60°
Right-Angled Triangle • A triangle that has a right angle (90°)
Parallelogram • A 4-sided flat shape with straight sides where opposite sides are parallel. • Also: • opposite sides are equal in length • and opposite angles are equal (angles "a" are the same, and angles "b" are the same)
A point where two or more straight lines meet. A corner. • The plural of vertex is "vertices". Vertex (Vertices) There are 5 vertices on this pentagon.
