EPEL 7000LEADERSHIP IN ED ORGANIZATIONS • Exposure to the structure of educational organizations. • Explanations of the various leadership roles within a school. • Evidence of the importance of “buy in” and teamwork with educational systems that are different from corporate systems. • Culture/climate and making change in those as a leader.

  4. EPEL 7510ISSUES OF SCHOOL GOVERNANCE • Budget, financial aspects, and issues related to the federal & state regulation on educational systems. • Concerns regarding the administrative aspects of positions in educational leadership. • The interworking of local boards of education.

  5. EPEL 7330LEGAL ISSUES IN EDUCATION • Historical legal cases that pertain to education • The how's and whys of legislation that protects students,teachers, and school boards.

  6. EPEL 7500HUMAN RESOURCE ADMINISTRATION • Human side of educational leadership. • Developing teachers and leaders within a school. • Relating in a cyclical nurturing manner to professionals and other stakeholders.

  7. INTERNSHIP WORK

  8. Curriculum, Assessment, &Instruction Leader • Writing coach and professional development liaison for 08-09 based on W2 standards. • Writing standards redelivery rep. • Professional learning presenter (developing workshops) . • Creating evaluation instrument & leading observation teams.

  9. Operations Leader • Car pool task force co-chair (getting signage for “no0 parking”, helping to petition the county for speed humps, organizing traffic flows for dismissal of students, polling parents & community persons

  10. Relationship Leader • Mentor , parent liaison for grade level • Teacher rep for the Tucker parent council (monthly meetings aimed at vertical alignment of Tucker cluster) • Health & wellness committee member

  11. Change Leader • Textbook adoption committee member for Elementary ELA. • Professional Development speaker for Gwinnett County Schools, “Writing Across the Curriculum”.

  12. Learning and Development Leader •  Contacted/organized presentations of outside vendors to aid school wide writing initiative. • Superintendent’s teachers advisory committee member/rep for local site.

  13. Data Analysis Leader • Disaggregated CRCT data for school wide “data boards” • Supported ESOL instruction K-5 for ELA through workshops and via site-based communication systems (email) of relevant interventions and support techniques for teachers

Performance Leader • Developed/re-wrote school wide tracking system for use in ELA K-5 evaluations of student work, implemented train0the-trainer sessions for use on each grade level • Co-developed technology (student) skills matrix aligned to national and state standards for use in k-5 classrooms

  15. Action Research Developed best practices for new teachers via the mentorship of principal; Created strategic planning reference sheet for induction in support of CSIP (Consolidated school improvement plan) based on NETS research; Co-created NETS based Technology skills matrix for K-8 Student Learning.

  16. Summary The diversity of activities I have been involved with have given me insight into the variety of duties educational leaders participate in.
