  1. The American Legion Warrington Post 240 8666 Gulf Beach Highway Pensacola FL 32507-2639 ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED Nonprofit org. U.S. Postage PAID Pensacola, FL Permit No. 385 The Victor’s Voice FOR GOD AND COUNTRY SEPTEMBER 2010 Post 240 website: www.americanlegion240.org Commander’s Corner Don’t forget on Saturday September 11 at 1200 am we will be having a 9-11 and POW/MIA Ceremony in the Main Hall. Hal Eyerly will be the guest speaker. Please come out and support our ceremony. I want to welcome Mary Taffaro as our new Ladies Auxiliary Unit 240 President. Her and her new Officers have some new and old exciting ideas about the Auxiliary and I hope you will come back to the meetings and see what they are doing for the American Legion Post 240. Regretfully, Stu Baker has resigned as our Post Chaplain. Thank you Stu for all you have done for the American Legion and our members. At our August General Membership meeting we held nominations for Post Chaplain, the Reverend Delbert Murray was nominated to fill the Officer position of Post Chaplain. At our September General Membership meeting we will have nominations again and then vote on a new Chaplain. Please keep Cecil Russell in your prayers. He was just elected as our 2nd Vice but he had a brain aneurism problem and is partially paralyzed. Get well Cecil. On to brighter things, on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 0800 am, our Post goes to the Veterans Clinic and supports the Veterans with donuts, juice and coffee. I’m going to put a sign up list in the lounge for anyone who wants to volunteer to go to the VA and serve them coffee and donuts and just talk with them. If we can get different people to volunteer then it won’t be a burden on people who volunteer all the time. Let me know if you want to volunteer to take a Tuesday. The Executive Board is still working on lowering the Main Hall Rental. There are a few details to work out, but I’m sure it’s going to be $100.00 for Members over 3 years and $200.00 for members under 3 and Non Members. I will let you know for sure in October. John Mille is still trying new things in the lounge to bring in our members and Veterans, please come out and see what is happening in the Lounge and the Post. I’m looking for a volunteer to coordinate the Oktoberfest on Oct. 9 at the Post. Please call me to fill this important position. For God and Country Marsha Martin American Legion Auxiliary An earring was found in the Auxiliary meeting room; call Mary and identify 251-978-0420. The Auxiliary was requested by Department to amend the By-Laws to add Article IV, Section 5. that states “Ten Members shall constitute a quorum at the regular meeting”.
