Objective The students will developorganizational skills by selecting an organizational tool for time management, keeping a school binder and determining study skills for home.
Terminology Prioritize: to arrange (items to be attended to) in order of their relative importance Finite: limited or restricted in nature (Time) Efficient: functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort Patience: an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay Self-discipline: training and control of oneself and one's conduct, usually for personal improvement. Assertive: confidently aggressive or self-assured; direct in claiming one's rights or putting forward one's views
Use a System • Deciding what to do and when to do it becomes so much easier when things are documented. Think-Pair-Share What items could you use in order to help you with time management and organization?

Prioritizing The time management matrix will help you identify what you really spend your time on. Popularized by Stephen R. Stay Organized At School Keep a three ring binder! Hand Signals (Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down) Do you have the following? Dividers- labeled, no loose papers Supply pouch- 2 pens, 2 pencils, eraser, highlighter, ruler, calculator, etc Assignment Calendars: Provided by teacher Cornel Notes: Note-taking tool Handouts: Teacher worksheets, assignment sheets
Successful Home Study Skills • Setting a regular time to do homework • Designate a specific place for doing homework that helps keep you focused (A Flat Surface, Good Lighting, Quiet, No Distractions) • Have school supplies near by (pens, pencils, paper, scissors, glue, eraser, ruler, etc.) and a dictionary are often essential. • Resource to assist you with homework include: Textbooks are often an excellent first step, but research the options available through your school or district (homework hotline, teacher websites)
3 – 2 - 1 • List 3 important things about the location you choose to do your homework in at home. • List 2 items that should keep in your school binder at all times. • List 1 organizational tool, you will use for time management.
