The Northeast Organic Farming Association Intership 2011: Elaina Enzien Period 8
Experience • Gave me a chance to explore a career of my interest • Very quiet and low key, but always a very comfortable environment • Informational and gave me new connections (networking) • Broadened my horizons on different job opportunities • Learned many valuable business skills
Goals • Gain an understanding on how to market and do the business side of this industry. • Learn more about what I can do in this area of work, what different jobs can I do? • Be able to express or teach others about organic farming and spread my knowledge.
What was learned and gained? • Learned how to become a confident business woman (how to deal with a typical customer) by talking on the phone • Improved my technology skills (computer work) • Learned the importance of organization! • This specific career calls for a lot of persuasion skills and people skills
What did I learn about myself? • Being in an office all day is not for me • Very good people skills • Much more independent than I thought I could be • Enjoyed talking to an array of different people • Stay more focused!
Decsions about future work • No set decisions at the moment • Still looking into going into the agricultural field • Pushed me towards minoring in business • I know I want to be out in the field doing my own business • Sparked a bigger interest in Environmental Law (because of Joan)
Next steps for the road ahead! • Go to college! • Look into more interning opportunities • Stay connected with NOFA-NH • Explore all options
Nofa-nh internship page • http://www.nofanh.org/internbio • Featured on my own personal intership page on the NOFA-NH’s website • Volunteered at the Earth Day Festival working the NOFA booth • Volunteered in Weare to do a bulk-order pick up
