  3. Why Philanthropies Fail • Brothers don’t believe in the organization or don’t have a personal connection • Poor planning/marketing • It’s not something FUN

Philanthropy vs. Service • Philanthropy • Raising money for a cause like March of Dimes, American Red Cross, etc. • Can be a big fun event or simply collecting spare change on the side of the road • Service • Performing a service to the community • Tutoring children, assisting in a soup kitchen • Usually no money involved

  5. Tips for a Successful Philanthropy • Plan ahead • Put your plans into action at least 3 months in advance • Utilize local/student newspapers, facebook and IHQ for publicity • Get the sponsor organization as involved as possible
