  10. Condor Characteristics Condors live in California hillsides and gorges. Found in central California and the Grand Canyon. Has a wingspan of up to 9.5 feet. Eats sheep, horses, and cattle in various states of decay. Needs wide open spaces so it can find its food.

  11. Cause of Endangerment Condors are endangered because of poaching and lead poisoning. Could have also been poisoned by poisons found in the animals they eat.

  12. Level of Endangerment California Condors are one of the most endangered species of birds. In 1982, there were 23 left in the wild. On the brink of extinction. All of them were captured and put into a captive breeding program. Their numbers are slowly increasing.

  13. Conclusion All of them were captured and put into a captive breeding program. They are being released into the wilderness in south central California and the Grand Canyon. Their numbers are slowly increasing.

  14. Ridley-Tree Condor Preservation Act(Assembly Bill No. 821) Approved by Governor on October 13th, 2007

  15. Existing law regulates the taking of birds and mammals, and prohibits the taking of specified nongame birds. This bill would enact the Ridley-Tree Condor Preservation Act to require the use of nonleadcenterfire rifle and pistol ammunition when taking big game and coyote within specified areas.

  16. National parks and park rangers help enforce these laws. These rangers help regulate what guns are uses and how much game each person or group has.

  17. These places apply to our biome because most chapparal biomes are in California. Also our endangered specie the condor is not hunted as much because it is a bird that is reaching extinction
