Face the facts • College is expensive ! • Statistics • Average tuition of a four-year private college rose 6.3 percent • Average tuition of a four-year public college rose 6.6 percent • Average tuition at two-year colleges rose 4.2 percent • Students who don’t have any grants or financial aid funding are in trouble.

  4. Reasons why college tuition should be lowered • Increases in loans causes students to be in debt • If given equal opportunities, more students would be attracted to the university resulting a increase in enrollment. • Possibilities of lower-crime rates

  5. Arguments • Questions to think about: • No opportunities • What’s the point of telling inner city kids to aim high when they can't even achieve it. • Kids from lower income families can never rise about their social status because they can't attend college because of tuition

  6. Ask yourself this YOU BE THE JUDGE • Is it fair that athletes sometimes gets a full-ride scholarship to a university because they are bless with talent, while other kids in the poor economy class who has the brains but can’t afford to pay for college.

Truth hurts • The rising of tuition and fees will continue to rise. • The pay gap between those students who graduate from college and those whose education stops at high school continues to widen. • As much as institutions make, they are not spending much of it on helping students attend college.

Some potential options • You can start saving early for your child so by the time your kid gets to college, you should have a sufficient about of money saved up. • Financial Aid/Grants • As tuition rises, there are increases in Financial Aid and grants. • Apply for all of them! It will really help you out ! • AVOID LOANS, let that be your last option
