Service Skills Australia • Who are they? - One of eleven Industry Skills Councils - Incorporated not for profit company - Funded by the Australian government (DEEWR) • What do they do? - Develop and maintain nationally recognised skills standards • (Training Packages) for the service industries • - Assist individuals and businesses to access training and assessment • within these standards • - Assist registered training organisations to provide quality training • and assessment using Training Packages Hospitaltiy Training Package- SIT07
What is a Training Package? • A set of nationally endorsed standards and qualifications • Describes the skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the workplace – within a competency based framework • Developed by industry requirements Hospitaltiy Training Package- SIT07
What a Training Package is not • Training Packages do not describe how skills and knowledge should be attained or the method of training delivery -Training Providers develop the ‘curriculum’ or the ‘how’ based on the learner and their local industry requirements Hospitaltiy Training Package- SIT07
