  2. How Water Energy Works • When water flows energy can be made. The generation of energy in water is usually in large water power plants, with steps and the use of a few devices, such as turbines and generators. The energy in water can be used to produce electricity.

  3. The advantages of using Water One of the advantages of using water is when once a dam is constructed it can produce energy constantly. Another thing that is an advantage is dams last many years meaning they can be used for many years. A very good advantage to using water as a renewable resource is that it does not cause air pollution.

  4. The Disadvantages of using Water • Some disadvantages of using water energy are that it disrupts the natural flow of rivers, it is expensive, and also it messes up the natural flow of sediments. It is also viewed as an obstacle to fish.

  5. The Cost of Water Energy • Building a water power plant takes time and lots of money. In the United States it can cost from $350 million to $600 billion dollars. (The chart below is from places around the World converted to US currency.)

  6. More Facts About Water Energy • It is the most important renewable energy source. • It represents 19% of total electricity production. • China is the largest user of water energy after that is Canada, Brazil, and the United States.

  7. The first water power plan was made September 30, 1882. It was made and designed in Wisconsin. Making it one of the oldest types of energy and have time to ‘evolve’.
