  5. Why • Batteries do great amount of damage to our environment if there are not disposed of properly • When batteries leak metals that cause damage to land fills which could get in to groundwater and make the water supply toxic

  6. Who • Canada's Municipalities • Prince Edward Island is Canada's role models because  its 64% diversion rate of all waste from landfill

  7. Conclusion • Batteries do damage to the environment and municipalities are creating battery recycling programs to reduce the damage from batteries in landfills
