Overview • Must apply to a course first, within a university • Liberal arts/sciences colleges only ones with broad education programs • English-language programs very strong in The Netherlands • Also in Switzerland, some business programs in other countries • Public (national) university programs are in the country’s language • G10 Course selection is very important in these countries • Full IB Diploma widely recognized • Some countries have specific IB course requirements • Math SL a minimum requirement in many countries • May have prove academic language proficiency • Example: Sweden, Denmark tests

Application Timeline • Can apply throughout Grade 12 • Many deadlines in March-May of Grade 12 • Students must research these dates themselves • IB exam results available July 6 • Most acceptances are conditional based on these results • Total IB points and individual course points are important

Netherlands • Courses with specific IB requirements: • Engineering, Medicine, Sciences, Social Sciences • Many Dutch universities with English programs • Erasmus, Maastricht, Tilburg, University of Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam Business School, The Hague University, and many others expanding annually • Very strong Hospitality Management programs • The Hotelschool den Haag, NHTV-Breda, hogenschole • COST based on passport • € 2500 - 4000 for EU citizens • € 8000 – 1100 for non-citizens
University Colleges • Three year programs – liberal arts and sciences • Broad program with a concentration (major) • Honors Colleges • IB Diploma with specific requirements • Very competitive for entry • Examples • Utrecht, Amsterdam, Leiden, Maastricht (Roosevelt), Middelburg– more to be introduced in the future.

Technical Universities • Research universities that offer up to the PhD level • IB Diploma with Math SL/HL required. • Examples: • Eindhoven, Delft and Twente • Strong Engineering programs taught in English

Application Process • Deadlines – spring through summer of G12 • All IB Diploma points + Swedish language proficiency • Send TISUS certificate on your own • Apply through Antangingsservice - central application center • Must send official IB exam results to Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) • Request in April, sent in July • Include Swedish ID # and Antagningsservice application #
New IB rules: 2014+ • English: A SL/HL + language of instruction • Swedish A orTisus test • Offered at the Swedish school in Shunyi, certain dates • Math: Earn more credit points for SL, HL • Earn weighted credit points for particular levels of classes • Total IB points converted to Swedish 10-20 point scale • See UHR website for details

Entry requirements • Similar to US college application process • HS Curriculum and strength of grades important • Write a personal statement of intent • Teacher letters of recommendation • SAT scores may be required – check website • Research individual websites for requirements, programs
