National Curriculum New Orders • Creativity is now part of the new orders as from September 2008 • National Strategy was launched to encourage designing and drawing
Progression during Key Stage 3 • What do you want students to be able to do by the time they get to year 10? • Year 7 – Isometric, rendering, Pro/Desktop, lettering • Year 8 – 2 point perspective, Orthographic projection • Year 9 – Further Pro/Desktop, Exploded views

Model making as a design tool • Modelling materials such as card, foams, plastics • Allows students freedom to be creative • Allows discussion as to the use of correct materials and how they can be joined

More Card Modelling Card modelling in 2D, allows concepts to be drawn easily and makes good display 3D modelling in Jelutong or Styrafoam From year 7 up to Year 13
Rendering using Markers A variety of basic techniques using marker pens
4X4 Designing • Allows less able to take part in designing activities • Gives the host designer other ideas • Gives the opportunity to think ‘outside the box’ • Can encourage group work
Sketching using templates • Single point perspective using ellipse templates • Models could be made using TEP pen kit
