What is jihad? • A command to fight against those who do not believe in God or the Judgment Day, who permit what God and His messenger have forbidden, and who refuse allegiance to the true faith from those who have received scriptures, until they humbly pay tribute • Jihad is literally struggle in the way of God which can be interpreted as an internal struggle to cleanse their soul of error, pride and forgetfulness
