Developing a Cohort Studies Strategy • Aim: Detail funders commitment to joint working and provide a framework for moving forward. • Initial focus of activity on a core of major cohort studies which span social science and biomedical interface: • 1946, 1958, 1970, ALSPAC, 2000, Biobank, 2012 • Principles apply to broader range of studies fund, broaden scope over time

Developing a Cohort Studies Strategy • Cohort Resources Facility Funding (£5.5m) • Provision of funds to support increased co-ordination • Help realise ambitions of the strategy • Work with the community to scope and develop co-ordination resource • National Longitudinal Studies Committee • Reconstitute to inform and support the development of a more co-ordinated and strategic approach • Central role in scoping and developing co-ordination resource
