  1. Welcome! Reminder: AMS meeting at UNLV on Saturday, April 30 & Sunday, May 1, 2011. Please apply to the AMS to organize a special session. Department MeetingApril 30, 20109:15 AM – 10:50 AM in CBC C128

COS April 29, 2010 EC Meeting • (1) Anticipated Dean Executive Assistant vacancy (Linda's last day in office, using VSIP, not sure official last day) • (2) College Spring 2010 Commencement event in the Physics Lobby at 4pm on Saturday May 8, 2010 (please attend if available) • (3) Additional $1,181 in GA funds for Department (Dean still waiting on other requested funds) • (4) Electronic Student Evaluations: advocated by Provost and President. Continues to be a major disaster; the Dean's office now seems to be onboard to incorporating paper in-class evaluations (following accreditation?). Possibly some combination of paper/electronic?

COS April 29, 2010 EC Meeting • (5) New Workload Reassignment Categories: less categories (possibly allows for ambiguity/creativity; possibly motivated by RJ?) • (6) Dean Search: please ask faculty to submit their input to the committee (possibly Karen West has been out of town or unavailable; ask for J. Li for update) • (7) Chain of Command: all semester discussed by Chairs and Dean, with Dean requesting at least warnings. DMS faculty have shown excellent judgment throughout the year. • (8) Still complaining to scheduling

  4. Announcements • BBQ TODAY at 1:30-4:30 • It will be south of CDC Building 8 • If Rain, in the “Sand Box” • If really, really bad weather, in CBC A112 • Facebook Account has over 50 friends
