  2. Home visits • Nursingstudents in Finland, Häme wanted to promote the elderlypeople. Thisstartedco-operation with the elderly. • The nursingstudentshave made home visits to 22 elderlypeople in everysecondweek •  The goals of the home visitshavebeencommunication and discussion with eachother. • Manyelderlyhaveliked to go out with students. Many of themhave no otherpossibility to go out. • The students have had theoretical assignments for home visits. Theyhaveobserved the elderlypeopleshealth and sickness, home environment and conditions at home, social environment, familysituation and relationship to home care.

The studentshavelooked the theoreticalinformationabouttheirownelderly’sproblems and tried to help them. • This is naturalway for learningnursing and caring in the beginning of the studies. • The customers (elderlies and their families) have given students very positive feedback. • The nursingstudents feedback hasbeenverypositive and the studentshavelearned a lotabout the real life of elderly. • Theyhavegot new kind of motivation for working with elderlypersons.

The nursingstudentshaveworked with elderly in daycare center Olokolo together with students of social and culturalsector. • The main theme of the sessionshasbeen ”new kind of qualifications of life”. • The subjectshavebeenhealthproblems, aids for handicaps, social networking, mentalhealth, literature, pottering, manykinds of physicaljerks with orwithoutchairs, remembering (for exampleremembering of Christmaspreparations). • The goals of the sessionshavebeenrecreationalactivities and healthpromoting.
