  1. EDUCATION Group 1

  2. I gotta feeling…

  3. PROCESS • Individual sharing: What struck me most? • Finding the common theme. • Current leadership response is reluctance. • Challenges are reluctance in leadership and view of Magis. • As JVP, what are our roles given the signs of time.

  4. THEME • The view of MAGIS (Magnanimity) towards burning-out and multi-tasking. • Leadership crisis in the environment. Sense a vacuum of leadership. • Crisis on LOVING oneself. • Reluctant leadership. • Prayer for Superior General • ZIP LINE – why jump when you don’t have a harness?

  5. CHALLENGES • Stress or burn – out • Fund-constraints in JVP. • One heart/love for everything (God, others, self) • Self-transcendence is rooted with self-knowledge

  6. WHAT CAN WE DO? • Testimony of stepping up • In education, vision is breaking frontiers. The challenge is share it with others. • Magis is love yourself to serve others and take care of yourself. AMDG – love more. • Mentoring

  7. Thank You! 

  8. INDIVIDUAL REFLECTIONS

  9. CALA (B-17) • All values learned in JVP I can’t see in the current environment • It’s frustrating and lead me to ask what I could do taking into account magis & discernment. • In government, different culture and I decided to immerse.

  10. JAY – B 12 & 13 • Its hard to practice Ignatian capacity & disposition & to strike the a balance. • If boss wants you to do more. When do you say it is not enough knowing ones capacity & priorities. Initially, I would say yes as I understand magis. Later on taking its toll on me like in health. When given leadership positions & has been overwhelmed. • When do I say no? And saying no misconstrued • Remember JVP experience & I was known as being outspoken • Humility is very striking. Remember you are a leader & at the same time looked as example. It’s tempting basking the glory of success.

  11. Shy –n B 10 • What struck me most being stuck in where I am. By establishing school. Vaguely vision is to replicate it with different colleges. The idea is to develop mothers & students optimally. • The vision is to bring frontiers but I remain stuck. • Where do I bring myself now? That’s where I find difficulty. • Distant from the Source so great. • How will I use my capability

  12. Ryan - B 21 • Magnanimity since I’m working at CM at AdDU. • Office environment is very helpful in nurturing spirituality & community involvement or support. • In the academe, giving of retreats become routinary that at times it’s not being imbibed. • In a good environment & supportive employer. • More explorations. It’s very easy to get stuck.

  13. Glo Ann – B 9 & 10 • The problem in the work place, there is leadership crisis and there is no spiritual program. • A reluctant leader because in deepening with self is still lacking. • JVP is 30 years we still have more things to do. Where are we now? Are we ready for a leadership room? Can we clearly define JVP’s role. • We have big investment on Ignatian leadership.

  14. Mitch- B 16 • Distinction between leader and manager. I can be a manager. • In the workplace, we have leadership crisis. Boss someone corrupt and dishonest. Overloaded with work plus be adviser. • The word magis is tiring.

  15. Irene – B 8 & 9 • Prayer for the superior general – know how to work with discipline & kindness • How can I be firm at the same time remain kind. • Share about Ninoy: true leadership is the capacity to inspire & sacrifice. Work is overwhelming but not difficult.

  16. Sr. Elma – B 8&9 • Prayer for the superior general – more reflection & very challenging • We are only stewards • Not only reluctant and fearful leader. • Willingness to be sent anywhere and to do what is asked to do. Given many tasks that I am capable but I am scared and with many expectations.

  17. Lheila – B 27 • Fresh from my volunteer year – am building my capacities in Ateneo de Naga • Still learning, building core strengths • Currently studying law • Consciously shying away from taking on more responsibilities – yet in spite of this, still ends up being a leader • There is a need yet there is no one stepping forward • “Not me again???”

  18. Lara – B 14 • Magnanimity – ouch, oh no, bulls eye.. I fear to be content not to be noticed. • My disposition, in my head, I want that I’m not doing anything.
