Eccl. 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

I. Getwisdom Solomon asked wisdom of God (1 Kings 3) God gave him wisdom and much more!
1 Kings 3:11-13 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;..
Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee…
And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
Proverbs 3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Proverbs 16:16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
Js. 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Wisdom was one of Solomon’s successes in life and we also need to seek wisdom
II. Earthly possessions cannotsatisfy Solomon had: Wealth Power Relationship (700 wives 300 concubines)
Peace Solomon “had it all” It the eyes of todays world, Solomon would have been a great success What does Solomon say about this?

III. Marriage is important, but God always comes first God allowed Solomon to write about the joy and love of a good marriage in the Song of Solomon
His failure came because he allowed his marriage partners to influence him in his relationship with God

Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

Because of Solomon’s disobedience God divided the kingdom of Israel and took away 10 tribes from Solomon Solomon’s marriages were failures because they led him away from God
There are many other lessons from Solomon’s life but these three are very important 1. Get wisdom 2. Earthly things cannot satisfy 3. Marriage is important –but God always comes first!
