  2. Highlights of Current Status • Since GSC-13, • Established 399 standards • Created Future Internet PG, ICT & Climate Change Advisory Group • Concentrating on IMT-Advanced, IPTV, Advanced T-DMB, ICT & Climate Change

  3. Highlights of Current Status - IMT-Advanced • Endorsed the submission on LTE-Advanced of 3GPP as a candidate of IMT-Advanced to ITU-R WP5D#5 (‘09.6) • Considering the collaboration with IEEE802.16 for the submission of M-WiMAX evolution as a candidate for IMT-Advanced • Registered as independent evaluation group (‘08.12), and provided technical contributions to WP5D (‘09.2, ‘09.6) • e.g., C-code implementation of channel model, and clarification of channel model

Highlights of Current Status - IPTV • Developing Phase 2 for providing interoperability among devices and services adapting Phase 1 standards (by June 2010) • Middleware(Web based), SI, Downloadable CAS(DCAS), QoS/QoE, Mobile IPTV •  Phase 1 completed in Apr. ‘08 • - Support IPTV based on legacy IP network

Highlights of Current Status - Advanced T-DMB • Completed Advanced T-DMB Standard(‘09.6) • Due to increased data rate compared to T-DMB, Multi-channel service in mobile environment & High quality service in fixed environment can be provided • (T-DMB: 1.728Mbps@1.5MHz vs AT-DMB:2.88Mbps@1.5MHz) • Maintain backward compatibility with T-DMB service • More service models of Advanced T-DMB • Available as DTV alternative service in developing countries • Standardizing Advanced T-DMB Data Services (i.e. BWS*, Filecasting, EPG**, etc) • * BWS (Broadcasting Website Service) • ** EPG (Electronic Program Guide)

Highlights of Current Status - ICT & Climate Change • Established ICT and Climate Change(ICT&CC) Advisory Group (‘08.10) • Revised “Integrated 20 pin I/O connection interface for mobile phones” standard (‘08.11) • Decreases demands of chargers and, consequently reduces GHG and natural resources 2nd version 1st version + Earphone Battery Charger 20 pin 24 pin (Since 2001) TV Out Cable (Since 2008) USB Data Cable

Future Direction (1/2) • IMT-Advanced • Continue to participate actively in 3GPP as an OP member for IMT-Advanced standardization of LTE-Advanced • Continue to cooperate with IEEE for standardization of M-WiMAX evolution • IPTV • Develop Downloable CAS standards for interoperability of IPTV contents among IPTV service providers (‘09.12)

Future Direction (2/2) • Advanced T-DMB • Propose Advanced T-DMB standard to ITU-R SG6 by the end of 2009 in collaboration with World DMB Forum • ICT convergence areas • Focus on u-Transportation, u-Health, e-Navigation, etc • - u-Transportation : Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication System • - u-Health : u-Health Network Platform • - e-Navigation : Satellite Communication
