Central Washington University – June 16-22; Dare to Dream Exploring Your Future – currently enrolled 8th and 9th grade migrant students; Science Academy – currently enrolled 10th and 11th grade migrant students • University of Washington – June 25 - July 1; Dare to Dream Exploring Your Future – currently enrolled 8th and 9th grade migrant students; Science Academy – currently enrolled 10th and 11th grade migrant students • Eastern Washington University – June 19-26; Dare to Dream Exploring Your Future – currently enrolled 8th and 9th grade migrant students; Math Academy – currently enrolled 10th and 11th grade migrant students • Western Washington University – June 23-29; Dare to Dream Exploring Your Future – currently enrolled 8th and 9th grade migrant students; Math Academy – currently enrolled 10th and 11th grade migrant students • All materials will be posted on MSDRS website OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

Dare to Dream 2019 • Registration deadline – March 8 (students give their forms to the school or contact person and they will send the forms to MSDRS) • Registration Confirmation Videoconference – May 23, 2019 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. • If the school slots are full and there are still interested students, enroll them as “Standby” and submit their registration information to MSDRS • Open registration after March 9 • All unfilled spots will be open to districts on a first-come first-filled basis • Working with universities to ensure buses have capacity • Buses may not come directly to your district/city, may need to help students get to pick-up/drop off site • Confirmation videoconference will focus on what-to-pack and bus route information • Don’t get confused with other classmates who may not be attending same event • When in doubt, contact MSDRS (800) 274-6084 or OSPI’s Migrant Education Program (360) 725-6147 OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

Dare to Dream Exploring Your Future (students completing 8th and 9th grade) Earn .5 credits at the same time you are: • Creating your high school and beyond plan. • Exploring career opportunities and areas of study to get there. • Experiencing what it is like to live on a university campus. • Learning about scholarships and financial aid. • Learning how to work as a team. • Learning your leadership style. • Learning more about the College Assistance Migrant Program. Dare to Dream Academic Academy(students completing 10th and 11th grade) Earn .5 credits by: • Digging deeper into the world of math or science. • Building an understanding of how math or science relate to your daily world. • Exploring the various careers in math or science. • Meeting university students studying careers in math or science. • Enhancing your study skills to help you be more successful in math or science in high school. Health Science Goals Provide high achieving migrant students access to: • Professional staff that will help them build their skills and abilities in the areas of health sciences • Resources on the requirements to graduate and plan for post-secondary education or employment • Instruction for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools.

  17. Student Recruitment • OSPI determines selected districts to participate • Number of seats allocated by district to specific university • Applications processed via the Migrant Student Information System • Recruitment limited to 30 students per program site.

Overview of the D2D Health Sciences Academies Program • Part of Dare to Dream for high achieving migrant youth* • Seven-day (six-nights) on-campus experience • All students are provided housing in UW or Gonzaga dormitories • Meal and transportation is provided to all students • Complementary swag • Off-site fieldtrip*

Eligibility High-achieving migrant youth entering 11th and 12th grade students: • On course to graduate within their expected year of graduation • 3.2 GPA+ or has demonstrated ability to be academically successful • Taken at least one (1) advance course in biology, chemistry, math, etc. • Plans to pursue post-secondary education • Interest in pursuing a career in the health

Candidates Sought D2D Health Science Academies is actively targeting high students who are: • On course to graduate • Planning to enter the health sciences • Identified as currently migrant eligible • Motivated, ready, and able to pursue foundational science courses or in seek of additional support with these health sciences.
