MOCK ACT • Through partnerships with ACT and Triumph College Admissions (TCA), the mock exams will be scored, using TCA’s web-based platform, and we will be provided with student and school-level learning profiles. The profile will show students’ strengths and weaknesses, accompanied by personalized learning plans. • 4 Sections: English, math, reading, science • Testing Time: approximately 3 ½ hours • Test 1: English - 45 minutes • Test 2: Math - 60 minutes • 5 - 10 minute break after Test 2 • Test 3: Reading - 35 minutes • Test 4: Science - 35 minutes
MOCK ACT - ADMINISTRATION • The administration must be as close to representing the environment of a real ACT as possible. • CMS will not administer the writing portion of the test. • The script has been modified to save time. • Students without pre-coded answer sheets, must write their names on blank sheets, and Ms. Raynor will complete the remainder of information later. • Proctors are not required for the administration of the Mock ACT, but there will be hall monitors in place. • Modified versions (Braille, Large Print, etc.) are not available at this time.
MOCK ACT – test books • The answer keys are in the test books on pages 56 – 57 and must be removed prior to testing. • I will try to make sure this is done, but please check behind me!!!
Test Administrators/Proctors: Before Testing • Remind students about the test date. Use the PowerPoint presentation on the site. Parent letters are in the mailbox room. • Encourage students to bring calculators. West Meck will not provide calculators for testing! • Notify your department chair if your room is not suitable for testing. Remember that classroom and hallway displays related to test-taking tips, reading, math, or writing need to be covered or removed. • Need a clock? Try posting this one during testing: http://www.online-stopwatch.com/online-clock/ • Check the list of test administrators, proctors, and hall monitors. Know where you are supposed to be!
Before Testing: Morning Check-Out • Arrive to the Media Center by 6:45 a.m. • Brief Testing Session scheduled for 6:50 a.m. Every test administrator, proctor, and hall monitor needs to be in attendance! Hopefully, there will be morning snacks donated by Dunkin Donuts. • Test administrators will count all test materials and compare to their purple rosters. • Sign the materials out.
Attendance and Electronic Devices • As students enter, ask for, turn off, and collect their electronic devices in the white envelopes. Write their names on the front, seal them, and store them in your bin in sight of the students (on the teacher’s desk). • Mark attendance on the purple roster (A or P). Also note if you collect an electronic device (Y or N).
Test Administrators/Proctors:Highlighting • Read the directions in bold print aloud to students. • All other information if for you. • Use the Key Points & Checklist to follow along.
If anything drastic happens, ask students to close their test booklets and stop working. Mark the time. Test Administrators/Proctors: After Testing Ms. Raynor will come if needed. Alert your hall monitor. • Collect all materials as the script states on the last page. Count to ensure all materials have been collected. • Follow your Key Points & Checklist to be sure you are bringing everything back to the Media Center.
Check-In (Media Center) • Look for the labeled bins for where to drop all items. • The counselors will help with safeguarding test books and answer sheets. They will count all materials brought in by teachers.
