  3. Overview of Program Opportunity for Seniors who have not met CPE benchmarks in: • Writing Skills (English)-18 • Mathematics-19 • Reading-20 • State or National Assessments • NOT a Mandatory Assessment • Seniors may test TWICE

  4. Second Administration Seniors may take each eligible assessment twice. • Steps: • Students receive intervention • First ACT Compass administration • Students who did not met benchmarks completed an additional intervention (MINIMUM FIVE DAYS) • Second ACT Compass administration

  5. Students Eligible to Test • The assigned grade level shall determine the state tests to administer. 703 KAR 5:240 • Students classified as Grade 12 in Infinite Campus take the ACT Compass administration

  6. Infinite Campus Review • Update Infinite Campus (IC) system prior to administration to make sure each student is assigned to correct grade level • KDE uses IC to verify graduates • Errors in IC cause greater cleanup problems later in the year • Be proactive

  7. College Ready Status File College Ready Status– Early November • Cover Sheet—The cover sheet has critical information about the use and limitations of the file. Please read carefully. • College Ready—Students on this list have met the college benchmarks and are NOT eligible for COMPASS or KYOTE. • NOT College Ready—Students on this list have not met the college benchmarks and may be eligible for COMPASS or KYOTE. • Unknown—Students on this list are Kentucky students for whom OAA does not have linked assessment data. They may be eligible for COMPASS or KYOTE. Please see the limitations listed below for more information.

College/Career Readiness Rate in Accountability System • Based on graduates or completers with G-Codes in Infinite Campus, including early graduates, (i.e. Excellence for All pilot) • Includes best score from all ACT State and National Administrations in Kentucky • Data reviewed by schools and districts prior to fall report

Reminders • Seating Charts • Students may test only TWICE • Offenders of this rule • 1st Offense—Written Warning to DAC • 2nd Offense • Testing System Turned Off for School • Appropriate Practice/Use Form Completed and returned to KDE before system reactivated • 3rd Offense • Testing allegation • Removal of individual(s) from system

DAC Responsibility for ACT Compass • Provide oversight and adherence to guidelines • Ensure staff is trained • Administration Code and Inclusion of Special Populations Regulations Training • Compass On-demand Training Series • Documentation is kept • Administration Code and Inclusion of Special Populations Training Signature Forms • Seating Charts • Irregularity Reports (if needed)

  16. ACT Benchmarks This information is for awareness only. Kentucky utilizes the CPE Benchmarks. *ACT, Inc. has updated its ACT College Readiness Benchmarks in Fall 2013. The Reading benchmark increased to 22, the Science benchmark decreased to 23.

  17. Collaboration with Postsecondary • Postsecondary institutions who have entered into agreements with KDE have instant access to student scores. • Representatives may access student scores only if the student has shown an ‘academic interest’ in the institution.

  18. KCTCS and SSIDs • Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) • SSID and/or SSN to KCTCS when applying • KDE receives a file from KCTCS • To assist with matching, please provide SSIDs to students and encourage their use.

  26. Administrator Tests • Using Admin Tests • 11111 and any combination of five numbers • Once the number/name combination is used, keep using the same combination • NOT for students

  28. Launch Plan • New ACT Compass platform will be available in early spring 2014 • Kentucky will review the platform prior to making decision to transition • No changes for Kentucky for the 2013-14 school year
