Step 3: Interpret the ArtworkWhat do you think the artist is try to communicate to the viewer? • Based on step 1 and 2, make a guess as to what the artist is trying to communicate? • What may be the reason for the artist creating this work of art? • What does the artist want me to understand about the artwork?

  5. Step 4: Judge the ArtworkIs the artist successful in communicating this idea to the viewer? • How well does the artist communicate in step 3? • What could the artist have done differently to better communicate to the viewer? • Why might others have a different opinion about the artwork?
