Creative industries Nick Cucakovic Outcome 2
Knowledge and Required skills For each of the 3 jobs in the sector i found they all had the same requirement skills in terms of knowing how to use essential programs to create final products:PHP 5XHTML / HTMLFlash / ActionscriptSQL + MySQL (or similar databases)JavaScript, CSS and HTML - EssentialStrong Adobe Creative Suite skills - EssentialASP.NET MVC experienceExperience with facebook connect & facebook appsSEO experienceAll three jobs didn't ask for any previous job experience in the sector which is rather unusual with this kind of job, although they still want a profile to see your previous work.
Experience Required • All of the jobs don’t require any previous work in the sector which is unusual, although when i looked at other jobs in this sector they required at least 2 -3 years of previous work • Nearly all jobs at this level require a vast knowledge of the adobe creating products • Extra knowledge of being able to incorporate everything together is also well looked upon.
Qualifications Required There were no qualification requirements only having a vast knowledge of adobe creative suite products, excellent programming skills within JavaScript, CSS and HTML. Also some ASP.NET MVC experience with some Experience within facebook apps and SEO experience. Although this might seem like a lot it all can be linked very easily together and run in harmony.
Role - Activities and responsibilities • Development and maintenance of company websites running on LAMP server (PHP and MySQL) • Create web images and Flash for websites and clients. • Operate independently or under guidance. • Extensive experience developing web apps with Javascript & jQuery • Very strong CSS and HTML skills • C++ knowledge • Excellent communication & team working skills • Ability to work in a pressurised environment and to meet agreed deadlines • you will be working primarily on the front-end applications as well as producing high quality and elegant designs for the company's web based products. • You will be working on a newly created web portal that will be continuing to expand the company's size and will need to focus on usability and user experience.
Self - employment opportunities There are always ups and downs with being self employed in this sector, of course the main way to be self employed is to freelance work. Although this might seem appealing by being paid much more than a normal job and being able to manage your own time but you work on short term contracts and you have to pay for your own healthcare / pension, also there are no real holidays. On the other hand working for a company keeps you in work constantly and provides all the things that freelance doesn't except you will most likely earn less and not have as much control over your schedule.
Salary and career opportunities All of the jobs offer roughly the same salary between 33,000 - 40,000 and all of them see to be negotiable as far as I can see from the adverts, as far as career opportunities go all of these jobs would be very important for just getting experience because they aren't looking for qualifications, they are looking for job experience in the sector. With all the jobs i chose above they all require you to have very good team working skills which will obviously create a wide range of opportunities in the social workplace along with a vast range of different employers.
