Martin Luther King Jr. • Martin Luther was a hero for his famous speeches,boycotts, and his effort to stop seregration and banish the Jim Crowe laws • He also was a great tennis player and played a lot when he was growing up. • He is honored today with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the 3rd Monday in January.

  4. Thomas Edison Thomas Edison as a boy, was curious and loved exploring places and new things.There was never a moment when he couldn’t be seen without something to fiddle with. He is recognized for his many invention which include the light bulb and the phonograph. His first working lightbulb burned for 39 minutes straight.

  6. Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin was recognized for his lightning rod and his science theories. His theory was on top of a building during a thunderstorm while flying himself on a kite he stood near a lightning rod.The results were: He didn’t get struck by lightning.Today Franklin’s rods can be seen all over the world on buildings.He also invented the Franklin stove.

Barack Obama • Barack Obama is the 1st African American president He has done his duty well • Obama lived during the hard times of segregation and barely ever got to see his dad, who traveled a lot. • He was inagurated on January 20th, 2009 • Barack Hussein Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Hawaii . • When he was only 2 years old his parents got seperated.

Abraham Lincoln • His face is one of the four faces carved into Mount Rushmore • He wrote the Gettysburg Address • Born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin near Hodgenville, Kentucky. • Was the 16th president • He was assasinated in a theater by John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865

  12. Elvis Presley • He got His 1st guitar for his 11th birthday. • Elvis Aaron Presley was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1948. In 1954, Elvis began his singing career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis. In late 1955, his recording contract was sold to RCA Victor. By 1956, he was an international sensation. With a sound and style that uniquely combined his diverse musical influences and blurred and challenged the social and racial barriers of the time, he ushered in a whole new era of American music and popular culture. He starred in 33 successful films, made history with his television appearances and specials, and knew great acclaim through his many, often record-breaking, live concert performances on tour and in Las Vegas. Globally, he has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist. His American sales have earned him gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards. Among his many awards and accolades were 14 Grammy nominations (3 wins) from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award which he received at age 36, and his being named One of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation for 1970 by the United States Jaycees. He died on the toilet in his house, Graceland, on August 16th ,1977 C
