Click! The Meatless and Animal Rights Day Campaign The Sadhu Vaswani Mission, named after Sadhu T. L. Vaswani – saint of Modern India, whose philosophy of life included compassion towards all living creatures – decided to observe November 25th (Sadhu Vaswani’s birthday) as a Meatless and Animal Rights Day. The Meatless and Animal Rights Day Campaign is an international ecological movement and It was created in 1986 by Dada J. P. Vaswani in honor of Sadhu Vaswani. Its main objective is the preservation of all forms of life and the struggle against the killing of animals. We hope to achieve this goal by making people aware that they should love and respect all. The campaign was launched to get as many people as possible to abstain from any food of violence (meat, fish, fowl, etc) just on this day. The response has been very encouraging and reports from all over the world indicate that the campaign is growing rapidly.

Click! Sadhu Vaswani Sadhu T.L. Vaswani is a name synonymous with reverence for all life. Indeed, he was the living embodiment of an unsullied love that knew no bounds and included all mankind, animals and all creation. Mystic, philosopher, educator and humanitarian, Sri Vaswani is the author of hundreds of books written in English and Sindhi. He was a poet whose songs touched many a heart. At the age of 30, his speech at the World Conference of Religions, in Berlin, aroused deep interest in Indian thought and linked many with him. He was a freedom fighter and worked as a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi in the Satyagraha Movement. In him the rebirth of India was reflected. Emphasizing that character building is nation building, Sadhu Vaswani started the "Mira Movement in Education" and developed a method based on his own values: love and respect for all forms of life, reverence and service to all fellow men regardless of color, class or creed. Inspired by his teachings and in his name several humanitarian activities are currently in practice in Pune, the city where he established his ashram. These activities include: first aid units where hundreds of poor patients can be attended to free of charge; the Saint Mira Schools and College where teaching is given free of charge to the needy; a fund-raising center; a special workshop for working women and a department dedicated to our brothers – the birds and animals. Sri Vaswaniji’s life was a radiant expression of the light of love and service; love for God and service to the poor. In fact, literally, up to his last day, he worked devoid of self-interest, seeking opportunities to serve the suffering human or animal.
