  1. BALER TRAINING PROGRAM Baler Overview Making a Bale Ejecting a Bale Tying-Off a Bale Emergency Operation Troubleshooting Guide

  2. Step 1: • Ensure Main Door is locked and closed by tightening Hand Wheel. • Open Safety Gate. • Load material to be baled.

  3. Step 2: Close Safety Gate by pulling down until contact is made with main door. Baler will not cycle unless this Safety Gate is fully closed. Safety Gate touching Main Door

  4. Step 3: Turn Key Switch to “On” position. Down Button Step 4: Press the “Down” Button; platen will automatically cycle. Key Switch Repeat Steps 1 through 4 until Bale is formed, Platen will automatically stop in the DOWN position when bale is full. Some balers also have an OPTIONAL Full Bale Light that will come on at the same time the Platen automatically stops.

  5. Step 5: When full bale is made and baler shuts off automatically in the down position, open the main door by turning the hand wheel in the direction of the arrows until the door latch releases the main door. Step 5 – Releasing Main Door Door Latch

  7. Step 7a – Inserting Baling Wires Step 7: Insert baling wire, loop end first, through all the smaller slots in the baler floor until the wire reaches the back of the baler.

  8. Step 7b – View of Bale Step 7 cont : This is what your bale should look like once all the baling wires are fed properly. The picture above illustrates five wires, which is required for our HD Models; however some of our models may have more or less slots for wire.

  9. Step 8a – Looping Back to Front Step 8: At rear of baler, pull baling wire loop end and insert wirethrough the platen slots toward the front of the baler. It is important not to pull the baling wire all the way through from the slots in the baler floor.

  10. Step 8b – Front View of Baling Wires This is what your bale should look like after Step 8 is completed properly. Notice that both ends of the baling wires are now in front of baler.

  11. Step 9a 9b – Tying Wires Step 9: At front of baler, (A) put wire through loop end and (B) bring down toward you.

  12. Step 9c – Twisting Wires Step 9 cont : Twist the wires onto themselves, making several wraps.

  13. Step 10 – Chain Handles Step 10: At rear of baler, install ejector chain to platen by picking up the chain handles and installing them on the hooks sitting inside the baler.

  14. Step 11 – Ejecting Bale Step 11: Push “UP” Button to eject bale. Stand clear of baler during eject operation. Up Button

  15. Step 12 – Removing Bale Step 12: Remove bale. A pallet can also be placed in front of baler if necessary.

  16. Step 13 – Securing Main Door Step 13: Close main door andturn the hand wheel in the proper direction to close the latch and secure the main door. Door Latch

  17. Step 14 – Drop Off Chains The baler will not operate with the main door open. These photos were taken with the door open so you could see the placement of the chains. Step 14: Push the “Down” button. Chains will automatically drop off of platen. B. A.

  19. Should an emergency occur while operating the baler, press the RED STOP BUTTON and the baler will terminate all functions and shut down. EVERYONE AUTHORIZED TO OPERATE THE BALER SHOULD KNOW THIS EMERGENCY PROCEDURE. CAUTION!! IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE OPERATING THE BALER. These Balers meet and exceed all safety standards set by A.N.S.I. Although many safety features are included in the design and construction of the baler, safe operation of the equipment depends on the operator’s adherence to the certain guidelines. To prevent accidents to the personnel or damage to the baler, the operatorMUST NEVER VIOLATE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. It is the client’s responsibility to ensue these guidelines are known and followed by all operators of the baler. Emergency Operation

NEVER place hands or arms in the baler while it is operating. NEVERstand behind the baler while it is operating. NEVERclimb in or on the baler, nor perform any maintenance/repairs unless the power is disconnected and locked out. NEVERallow anyone except qualified electrical or hydraulic repair persons to work on the equipment. NEVERdisable any safety switch. NEVERoverload the baling chamber. NEVERplace concrete, heavy steel plate or castings, explosive materials, liquids, nor hazardous waste in the baler. NOTE: Hydraulic oil is the primary element of power transmission on the baler. Remember that hydraulic systems can remain pressurized even after the motor has stopped and the power is disconnected.

  21. Step 15 – Ready for Next Bale Troubleshooting Guide NOTE:ONLY FACTORY AUTHORIZED SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES SHOULD MAKE ADJUSTMENTS OUTSIDE THE SCOPE OF THIS MANUAL. MOTOR WILL NOT OPERATE: Check fused disconnect. Check motor starter thermal overloads. Reset if necessary. Check motor starter coil. Check that safety gate switch is working properly. Check that main chamber door is fully closed. MOTOR RUNS BUT PLATEN DOES NOT MOVE Check for proper motor rotation. (clockwise from the fan end) Check the directional valve for proper operation. Check the pressure switch. Check the relief valve for proper adjustment. Check the hydraulic fluid level. (Some may have Optional Low Oil Light) BALER WILL NOT OPERATE IN AUTOMATIC MODE (OPTIONAL) Check loading door photocells. Check contact blocks on rear of mode selector switch for binding.

BALE WEIGHTS ARE LOW Check for proper system pressure. Check for proper relief valve adjustment. Check for proper pressure switch adjustment. Check that baler is achieving full bale status. See “Operating Instructions.” BALE SHIFTS ERRATICALLY Check for proper system pressure. Check for proper pressure switch adjustment Check relays and bases for signs or arcing. (Does not apply to XHD Models) Check directional valve. BALER MAKES EXCESSIVE NOISE Check hydraulic fluid level. Check for water or air in hydraulic fluid. Check oil filter and suction lines components for tightness. Check motor fan cover for damage. Check that bolts are tight on press head UHMW wear guides.
