Based on a painters needs they can either sit or stand up when they’re working on an easel. Generally, easels usually support the canvas at an angle, which makes it easy for painters to work. Now lets have a look at the kinds of easels: Single mast Easels - If you’re a beginner this easel is perfect for you since it’s designed to be that it can be used by different art students in studio classes and beginners. Portable Easels - Designed specifically for outdoor work these easels are made from aluminum or wood and are incredibly light, which makes them easy to carry around. These easels come with three telescopic legs whose height can be adjusted according to an individuals needs, many easels also have a rubber-tipped feet which adds stability so no matter where you paint, the easel will be sturdy enough. They can be folded into a compact package that is easy to carry. Giant Easels - These easels are designed for really large art works these easels are quite heavy and expensive as well. If an artist is working on a large-scale art project a giant easel is your best bet. Table Easels - Designed to be used by those who want to work at a table or desk being small these easels are small enough to fit on the top of a table or desk and allow painters to work in smaller spaces as there’s not much room at all. H-frame Easels - Having the shape of the letter H these easels are quite large, and are mostly preferred for for larger canvases. As they’re large in size, they’re easy to transport and aren't as sturdy as lighter easels. These easels come with drawers for storage and some can be folded. A-frame easels - Compared to the h-frame easels these easels are smaller and are very commonly used by artists and art students alike. The name is taken from the fact that the easel resembles the letter A, with two legs in front and one in the back that give a triangle formation that looks like the letter A.
