  2. “Answer” • Thayer: • “verbal defence, speech in defence” • We are expected to do so • Jude 3; Philippians 1:17 • Why? • For defence of truth • For benefit of asker (attacker)

  3. “Reason” • Webster: • “The cause, ground, principle or motive of any thing said or done; that which supports or justifies a determination, plan or measure” • Indicates there is evidence for our hope • Not expected to blindly accept • John 1:45,46

  4. Reasons for our hope • Hebrews 11:3 • Romans 1:20 • Psalm 19:1 • Psalm 139:14 How can any intelligent being look at theuniverse; the human body, etc. and sayall this came from nothing & without design

  5. “Hope” • Thayer: • “to anticipate, usually with pleasure” • Expectation of that which is desired • Not a “mere wish” • Hope based on faith in God & His word • Know WHY we believe & have hope

  6. “hope and resurrection of the dead” • Acts 23:6 • “hope of the promise” • Acts 26:6, 7 • “hope of the salvation” • 1 Thessalonians 5:8 • “hope of eternal life” • Titus 3:7

  7. What Must I Do To Be Saved? • Hear the word of God(Romans 10:17) • Believe Jesus is Christ(John 8:24) • Repent of your sins(Acts 17:30) • Confess your faith(Matthew 10:32) • Baptized for remission of sins(Acts 2:38) • Remain faithful unto death(Revelation 2:10)
