Sublimation The process of change of solid sate directly to gaseous state without going through liquid state , and vice versa. For example- camphor.
Camphor Camphor is a waxy, flammable, white or transparent solid with a strong aromatic odour. It is a terpenoid with the chemical formula C10H16O.
Uses. Solid camphor releases fumes that form a rust-preventative coating, and is therefore stored in tool chests to protect tools against rust. Some folk remedies state camphor will deter snakes and other reptiles due to its strong odour. They are also used as a cough suppressant.
Camphor as a mosquito repellant. Method-1 Put 2 tablets of commercially available camphor on any warm surface- the device shown in the picture serves the purpose well. Plug it for an hour . Method -2 Place 2 tablets of camphor on different corners of the room or at places where mosquitoes seem to love to stay.
Observation Since camphor is a volatile material , it will evaporate in a day or so keeping the air purer and mosquito free. In this way camphor can be used as a mosquito repellent….!!!
