Need in the Community • Include research you have done that demonstrates there is a need in the community for your project. • It has to be something that is not already being addressed by other means. • Include who your project is going to help.
Who Else is Involved? • Are there other organizations currently working on this problem? • Who are your allies in this project? • Who are your going to reach out to for help within the community? • How will you obtain resources?
Why this Project? • Why did you choose this project? • What about it interests you? • What do you hope to accomplish through this project? • How will it work?
Plan of Action • What is your plan of action? • What steps do you need to take to implement this project? • How did you determine your budget and what is your budget? • What resources do you need to implement your project?
Paper Structure and Organization • Length • 3 – 5 pages • Table of reference, diagrams, and appendices are in addition to the length • Format • Must be organized • Use section headings • Start with and abstract and end with a conclusion
Guidelines General Paper Sections • Typed • Double spaced • 1” margins all around • 12 pt. Times New Roman • Running header including page numbers • Title Page • Abstract • Main Body • References
Title Page • Title of the Paper • Author’s Name (First, Middle initial, Last) • Course • School Name • Date • Double-spaced • Running Header • Go into header • Page number flush right • Abbreviated Title flush left
Abstract • Running Header • Center “Abstract” on first line of the page • Write a concise summary of your research (no indentation) • Should include: research topic, research questions, participants, methods, results, conclusions (150-250 words)
Main Body • Center the title on the first line of the first page • Indent each paragraph using the tab key • Headings should be sized according to level • Text is left justified • Include figures, diagram, or charts within text as appropriate • All references must be documented • Please use a variety of references such as: books, periodicals, journals, and the Internet • Look at this example paper from the OWL at Purdue for more explanation: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/media/pdf/20090212013008_560.pdf
