Data for 2012-13 • 1/3 of our student population was suspended in CHOICE or out-of-school at least once. • 1/4 of those students spent 10+ days in ISS/OSS • 2,159 days were spend out of school by our students due to ISS/OSS. • This does not include class periods spent in CHOICE.

Tardy Policy • Teachers will track tardiesand mark in Pinnacle as “TU.” • Teachers report tardies to Deans • Students will receive CHOICE assignment for lunch period(s) as consequence for tardiness • Parents will receive ConnectEd phone calls and a BOY newsletter to explain new policy and remind them when school begins.
C.H.O.I.C.E. • There will be one CHOICE room for 2013-14. • CHOICE will handle all tardy and dress code issues.
Referrals/Parent Contact • If you must have a student removed, you must also complete a referral and parent contact on Portal. • All documentation (positive and negative) will be put on portal. • It is an expectation that you will spend 1 hour per week (from 1:40-2:45pm) making parent contact and logging it in Portal. • If you cannot reach a parent after several attempts, contact Charles Wynne and let him know

Deans as Coaches • Deans are here as a support for more than simply doing referrals. For instance: • Student compliance walkthroughs • Assisting teachers with classroom management strategies • Behavior contracts • Parent Contact • Communicating with teacher, coaches, and specialists, as needed
Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) 9th Grade Academy • System gives students ROC BUCKS that they can use for monthly drawing by dropping their ticket into one of the PBS lockers • Enter in monthly drawing (gift cards, prizes, and other corporate donations, football tickets, etc.) • Each month will have three prizes and we will announce in afternoon for pick up in Mr. Wynne’s office
PBS Teacher’s Guide When do I give a ROC BUCK and when do I not? Use the PEPrule and ask yourself, “did the student…” Prepare (dress and prepare for success?) Excel (stand out above others?) Progress (make improvements or help others improve?)
Monthly Allocation • Each teacher will receive 20 ROC BUCKS per 9th grade class they teach. These will be placed in your mailbox. • EX: If Mr. Smith has 1 ninth-grade class, he will receive 20 ROC BUCKS per month but Mrs. Johnson, who teaches six 9th grade classes will receive 120 ROC BUCKS per month.
