Sentence structure I teach English – I have taught English since 2004. I play the guitar – I have played it since June. I’m married – I have been married since 2009. I like rock music – I have always liked it. I don’t have my keys – I have lost them somewhere this morning. I like Bond films – I have seen all of them twice. I don’t know about my brother – I haven’t heard of him for 20 years.
Sentence structure HAVE + V(3rd form) + S – have/has + V(3rd form) - S – haven’t/hasn’t + V(3rd form) ? Have/Has – S – V(3rd form) Short answers: Yes, S – have/has. No, S – haven’t/hasn’t
Use • Present perfect simple describes events or actions that have happened in the past but we don’t know or say when. Example: I have lost my wallet. Somebody has stolen my mobile. I have cooked the dinner. • Present perfect simple describes states or situations that started in the past but are not finished yet. Example: I have lived in Brno since 2007. I have worked here for 2 months. I have read the book three times in my life. I haven’t seen him for years.
Example sentences She has taught English since 2004. I have played the guitar since June. They have been married since 2009. My friend Sam has always liked rock music. I have lost my keys somewhere this morning. I have seen all James Bond films twice. I haven’t heard of my brother for 20 years. Have you read the newspaper today? I haven’t found, what I’m looking for.
