Chi omega • Founded in 1895 at the University of Arkansas, Chi Omega is the largest women's fraternal organization in the world with over 320,000 initiates and 178 collegiate chapters. Throughout Chi Omega's long and proud history, the Fraternity has brought its members opportunities for personal growth and development. • As a Chi Omega, you will have fun, grow, thrive, achieve success, and flourish! Chi Omegas are well balanced women who are involved on their campuses and in their communities. As a prominent national women's fraternity, Chi Omega provides countless opportunities for fun and friendship during college and beyond.
Chi Omega PR • As PR chair for Chi Omega, I run all of the social media pages for Chi O. • -Twitter • -Instagram • -Facebook • By doing this, I get to keep Alumnae updated with our chapter and help promote Greek Life here at Texas Tech. Our social media is also a great way to let Potential New Members see what our chapter is all about and up to on a daily basis.
Problem • During the summer, all Panhellenicsoroities must follow a strict rulebook. This includes all social media for all active members. In past years, we have not been able to use social media in any way. Getting 200+ girls in our Chi Omega chapter can be very difficult. This year Panhellenic has changed the rules. We may not say “Go XYZ Soroity” an any way shape or form. We must promote “Greek Life” and not one particular house, but we may post on social media. We still have to be very careful with what we do because everything can be seen by Panhellenic. So we have been told to “post for the PNM, not for each other.”
Solution • My PR and Recruitment team have come up with a solution for the summer posts on social media. We sat down with our Panhellenicrepresenative in and out side of the house, PR team, and our Recruitment chair and advisor to make a calendar with every Tweet, Instagram idea, and Facebook post. I downloaded the “Hoot Suite” app and have pre set every tweet for the summer for the particular day and time. We created a hashtag to help get our active members excited and on track for appropriate “Go Greek” posts throughout the summer as well. Each week we will have a different “Instagram Challenge” for our members to participate in and so the PNM’s can click the hashtag and see what is going on with Chi Omgea.
PR ideas • Photo Challenge • Power Hour contest • Calendar for all posts over the summer • Events at the house for girls staying for the summer • Positive “Go Greek” posts and attitudes
