  2. ANTONYMS & SYNONYMS Antonyms are words which have the opposite or very different meaning: loudly…. quietly late …. early Synonyms are words which have the same or very similar meaning: scare …. frighten

  3. RELATED & COMPOUND WORDS We use prefixes or suffixes to create related words: library librarian stories storyteller* When we put two words together to create a new word, we call it a compound word: story + teller = storyteller arm + rest = armrest

  4. CONTRACTIONS When we put two words together to create a shorter version of that word, we leave out a letter or letters. We use an apostrophe to show which letter(s) are left out. We call these words contractions. they + will = they’ll she + will = she’ll * we + will = we’ll * * What are these words with NO apostrophe?
